Introduction to Prostate Cancer for Black Men

The reason for having several pages dedicated to black men is that studies in the UK suggest a high risk of prostate cancer in men of African origin. Prostate cancer is highest among men of the West African diaspora, be it black men in the USA, the Caribbean, Brazil and the UK.

These men with African ancestry are at 2–3 times the risk of prostate cancer in comparison to their white Caucasian counterparts, with a concomitant higher mortality rate. That is one in four of this group can expect to suffer from prostate cancer in their lifetime.
