Where to access mpMRI to the PROMIS standard
PROMIS is the minimum standard for mpMRI. There are no gold stars for merely being PROMIS compliant.
In fact we have had reports from leading Consultant Urologists that a lot of mpMR scans and the reports are of poor quality even though PROMIS complaint. The reason is, mpMRI scans are difficult to get right. To be successful it is important that the MRI system are optimised (PI-QUAL is a tool for doing this). Using the pre-set manufacturer’s settings are generally not good enough.
High quality mpMRI images and high quality reporting are a must.
If you only spend time and maybe money on one thing, get the best mpMR scan reported by the best Uro Radiologists

Details for the best centres for prostate cancer diagnostic MRI are below
Star system for rating mpMRI facilities and reporting
As mpMRI and excellent reporting, are so critical to accurate diagnosis, we have developed a star system to help readers choose the best sites to have an mpMRI along with the best reporting.
Centres can have up to a maximum of 5 stars. Stars are awarded for the following:
The facility uses a 3 Tesla (3T) MRI system such as a Siemens Vario or Vida or a Philips Ingenia system. The alternative, that would be not be awarded two stars are 1.5 Tesla (1.5T) MRI systems
The facility uses a modern 1.5T system from suppliers such as Siemens or Philips which do not require an Endorectal coil
The scans are reported using the Concensus paper multi media format
The scans use the Consensus Paper Protocol (T2,DWI aith high B value, DCE)
The scans are reported by a Uro radiologist who reports more than 100 mpMRI scans per year and regularly attends NHS Prostate MDTs
